Thoughts, Notes, Ideas, Projects

Contact

This is an open and broad curation of ideas, thoughts, and projects exploring the frontiers of science, technology, and innovation. I'm a futurist and optimist who believes in envisioning and building the future we want to live in. Much of the content is organized into series—collections of related articles that build on each other to provide comprehensive coverage of complex topics. You can browse all series using the "Series" button in the navigation above, or discover them naturally as you explore. The content here represents deep dives into topics that fascinate me—from the physics of spin glasses to the search for life on ocean worlds, from quantum computing to fusion energy, from building interactive 3D visualizations to understanding how markets evolve. This is a work in progress.

What You'll Find Here

Deep Scientific Explorations

Comprehensive, long-form articles on topics that matter:

  • Planetary Science & Space - Detailed articles on every major planetary body in our solar system, from the Sun to Neptune's moons, exploring their geology, potential for life, and the missions that reveal their secrets
  • Quantum Computing - Overview - A complete series covering qubits, entanglement, quantum algorithms, hardware approaches, and the roadmap to practical quantum computing
  • Spin Glasses - Deep dives into frustration, optimization, and the connections between statistical physics and machine learning
  • Nuclear Energy - Exploration of fusion technologies, from tokamaks to FRCs, and the path to clean energy

Interactive Visualizations & Creative Coding

Explore procedural generation, shaders, and interactive graphics:

Interactive 3D Topology Shader - Exploring Escher-like Spaces:

This interactive 3D shader uses ray marching to explore topological spaces reminiscent of M.C. Escher's impossible geometries. Try it out: Click and drag to rotate the view, move your mouse to shift the camera. The shader creates repeating, interconnected structures that demonstrate how topology can create visually impossible but mathematically consistent spaces.

For more shader experiments, check out the GLSL introduction or try the GLSL Toybox to write and share your own shaders.

Full Interactive L-System Editor with Shader Support:

The full-featured L-System renderer above includes shader editing, custom rules, animation controls, and more. Try it out: Update the axiom and rules in the controls above, and watch the fractal pattern update in real-time below. Experiment with different parameters, shader presets, and rules to create your own fractal patterns.

Check out the L-System Renderer on GitHub for the source code and to contribute. For 3D L-System tree generation used in the animated background, see L-System 3D Tree Generation.
